In the Chandigarh Mayoral election, the TPCC accuses the BJP of electoral malpractice.
HYDERABAD, FEB 21 : Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Senior Vice President G Niranjan expressed concern over what he termed a reprehensible act by the BJP’s returning officer during the recent mayoral election in Chandigarh, labelling it an indelible stain on democracy.
Addressing the media at Gandhi Bhavan on Wednesday, Niranjan urged Prime Minister Modi, a vocal advocate for democracy, to respond and issue an apology to the public.
In an unprecedented move for India, the Supreme Court oversaw the vote-counting process in a courtroom, bringing to light disturbing deceptions and revelations. The court ultimately declared the AAP-supported candidate, backed by Congress, as the rightful Mayor.
Niranjan asserted that this incident is indicative of the BJP’s desperation for power and a preview of potential fraudulent activities in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
As Modi anticipates a third term and boasts of NDA securing 400 seats due to his strategic prowess, Niranjan cautioned Congress workers to stay vigilant and urged the public to reject such manipulative tactics.
The BJP’s initiation of Vijaya Sankalpa Yatras in the state is viewed by Congress as an attempt to sow discord among the people and tarnish the party’s reputation.
Himanta Biswa Sharma, the Chief Minister of Assam, allegedly made divisive remarks at a recent BJP meeting, suggesting that only those with lineage to Babar and Razakar would vote for Congress. Niranjan questioned Sharma’s own political history in Congress and rhetorically asked whether he, too, was born to Babar and Razakars
In response to Sharma’s statement, Niranjan questioned the implications for those voting for the BJP, humorously suggesting if they must be born to Godse.
Calling on the Election Commission to restrain provocative rhetoric and actions defaming Congress, Niranjan also urged the State Director General of Police to take appropriate measures.(UNI)
