Rumors about Poonam Pandey’s demise are denied

MUMBAI, FEB 3   :    A day after shocking, serious and sensational publicity stunt which claimed that Poonam Pandey has died of cervical cancer, the 32-year-old controversial actress-model lady on Saturday came out with a denial and categorically stated that she was alive.

In a video statement on the issue circulated in social media platforms, Poonam said, “I am alive. I did not die because of cervical cancer. Unfortunately, I cannot say that about those hundreds and thousands of women who have lost their lives because of cervical cancer. It is not because they could not do anything about it but because they had no idea what to do about it. I am here to tell you that, unlike other cancers, cervical cancer is preventable. All you have to do is, you have to get your tests done and you have to get HPV vaccine.”
The news sent the entire industry in shock, and many colleagues and close friends came in to state that they were not aware of her ailment, and she was fit and fine just a couple of days ago.
On Friday, there were two statements confirming her death.

“This morning is a tough one for us. Deeply saddened to inform you that we have lost our beloved Poonam to cervical cancer. Every living form that ever came in contact with her was met with pure love and kindness. In this time of grief, we would request for privacy while we remember her fondly for all that we shared,” said a statement on her official Instagram account.

The Cine & TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA) too condoled her death.
“CINTAA expresses its condolences on the demise of Poonam Pandey,” the apex body of artists posted on X (formerly Twitter).

She was seen in Bigg Boss (2011), and then made her Bollywood debut in 2013 with the film ‘Nasha’, ‘GST – Galti Sirf Tumhari’ (2017), and a few other films and television serials.

She was also known for bold statements and acts — and was very popular in social media.
In 2011, she had announced that she would strip for the Indian cricket team if it bagged the Cricket World Cup that year, and similar such daredevilry on various occasions.

Poonam was briefly married to filmmaker Sam Bombay in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic, however, she had accused him of domestic violence shortly after their wedding.(UNI)
