Palghar Police dismiss kidnap theory of seaman for extortion

Palghar, Feb 24 : Almost 20 days after the Naval Leading Sea Man was said to have been kidnapped for Rs. 10 lakhs and burnt alive in a jungle in a village in the district the Palghar district rural police on Wednesday almost concluded that the victim Surajkumar Mitilesh Dube, 27, of Dalatganj of Jharkhand had cooked up the entire story to divert the attention of his debts and stress which lead to his extreme act of suicide.

Addressing a news conference at the Police headquarters here the District Superintendent of Police Dattatreya Shinde told newsmen point by point the events that the police have come across so far in the investigations from January 31, to February 05, when the incident is said to have happened to substabtiate their claim that it is a cooked up story.

The police have also gone into the details of his activities in the share market and claimed that he was totally in debts and losses due to the trading. He even concealed his second sim and the share market and other loans from the family and also about his leave programme the police chief said.

The probe so far revealed many startling facts which the police have come across in the total probe which reveals that between January 31, and the following days he was moving freely in the city of Chennai and had taken room on rent at a lodge.

He had also moved around in the Koimedu bus stand and withdrawn money from the ATM. He travelled to Vellore and was there for a couple of days and the lodge has confirmed the same.

Hence his claim that he was held captive at Chennai for three days has failed the police said. He claimed that three men had dumped him in an SUV near the Chennai airport at the point of gun and took him captive and brought him to Palghar in the jungle at Vevjipada and burnt him alive on February 05.

He was on leave for 30 days but informed his family that he was on leave for 20 days and then pretended to extend it by ten days. In the intervening period he had also bought the new sim which he used for trading in shares which he concealed from his family.

With one of his relatives and at the hospital at palghar too he had referred to one Irfan thus planning to use his name in the entire kidnap drama the police said.

The police chief also narrated the entire financial trail of the victim in the share market and the loans he had taken and said that he could not not return the major portion and was in heavy losses in the share trading.

The road leading to the said spot where he was said to have been burnt is a heavily guarded one being the on the border of Maharashtra and Gujarat and inspection of the CCTVs have not not revealed any SUV passing during the said periods. Also one does now now know how he travelled from Vellore to Palghar. During his stay near Vellore the police station was just across and if he had been abducted he could have informed the police and also his family members did not not get a ransom call.

The police gave maximum of details to wrong the story of the victim and also said that another startling fact which surfaced was that it was in the morning on the fateful day at a petrol pump at Talasari one madn had at around 5.30 a.m. purchased two cans of diesel. This has been confirmed in the CCTV footage and the staff at the pump has identified picture of the victim as the man who had taken the diesel the police said.

His engagement was held on January 15 and he was to get married on May 22, 2021 the police said.

The police chief finally concluded that the police team under the supervision of DYSP Dahanu Dhanaji Nalavade, they were still probing if it was a suicide due to stress and indebtedness or a kidnap and murder.

The police did not not fail to mention that he had hid from his family members of of his loans, hands on loan, losses in the share market and he was under extreme pressure and stress due to his financial stress of around Rs. 19 to 20 lakhs the police said.

The police are also pondering over the fact that how did he travel in a car a distance of more thatn 1480 kms overnight in a car as he claimed that he was dumped in the car in the night and brought to Gholwad.

On the whole the complex case which the police are probing into with so man teams comprising of around 100 personnel and making use of all the policing methods is a naught. (UNI)
