In a fight in northwest Pakistan, four terrorists were killed.

ISLAMABAD, JAN 2    :    Four terrorists were killed in a clash with security forces in Pakistan’s northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Tuesday, the Pakistani army said in a statement.

The incident happened in the tribal town of North Waziristan, where the security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation on the reported presence of terrorists, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistani army, said in the statement.

During the operation, intense fire exchange took place between the troops and the terrorists, as a result of which the four militants, including a suicide bomber, were killed, the statement added The killed insurgents remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against the security forces and were planning to conduct a high-profile terrorist attack, which was averted due to a proactive response by the security forces, the ISPR said.

Arms, ammunition, and explosives were also recovered from killed terrorists, according to the statement.

A clearance operation is being carried out to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area, the ISPR added.(UNI)
