Telangana logs 157 fresh COVID-19 cases until Friday night

Hyderabad, Feb 20 : Without any let-up,Telangana recorded 157 fresh COVID-19 cases until 2000 hours on Friday taking the cumulative number of coronavirus cases in the state to 2,97,435 so far.

The state did not suffer any COVID-19 death afresh in the last 24 hours and the total death toll remained 1,623 translating a case fatality rate of 0.54 per cent as against the countrywide mortality rate of 1.4 per cent,according to a state health department bulletin on Saturday.

As many as 157 people have recovered from coronavirus statewide in the past 24 hours pushing the total number of recoveries to 2,94,097 till date constituting a recovery rate of 98.87 per cent while the national recovery rate was 97.3 per cent.

The active cases in the state currently stand at 1,715 including 649 individuals in home or institutional isolation,the bulletin said.

As of Friday,23,702 samples have been tested in the state to detect the contagious virus out of which the results of 538 swab samples are awaited.

Since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic,more than 84.33 lakhs COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the state till date.

Among the districts,the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation remained the

main contributor of the infection by reporting 27 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours followed by Medchal Malkajgiri (15) and Rangareddy (12).

The remaining coronavirus cases of the day were reported by other districts,the bulletin added. (UNI)
