AP: Cyclone causes Rs 188 cr in losses for the WG district: Gatherer

BHIMAVARAM, DEC 6  :   West Godavari district Collector P Prashanthi has said that the district has incurred a loss of Rs 188 crore and crops damaged in 23,661 hectares due to the Michaung cyclone.
In a statement here on Wednesday, the Collector said that the district had incurred a loss of Rs 188 crore including damages to the crops in 23,661 hectares, roads, and other infrastructure.
“As many as 113 villages in 19 mandals were affected by the cyclone. Water gushed into 19 villages and four municipal towns which affected 4,090 people. As many as 26 houses including three pucca houses and 11 huts were badly damaged while 79 houses were slightly damaged,” she informed, adding that 32 cattle sheds were also damaged in the cyclone.
Collector Prashanthi said that 10 people were injured in the cyclone. She said that 6,354 food packets and 15,336 water packets were supplied to the cyclone victims and 31 medical camps were set up for them.
She informed us that 423.53 km of R&B roads were damaged while 20 trees were uprooted in the district during the cyclone storm. She said that Rs 11 crore was required to carry out temporary repairs to the roads and Rs 165 crore was required to reconstruct the damaged roads.
The Collector said that six roads of panchayat raj with a length of 9.7 km were also damaged and Rs 42 lakh was required to carry out temporary repairs Rs 130 lakh was required to reconstruct them.
The Collector said that 17.7 km of roads in urban areas were damaged while 5.4 KM of open drains and underground drains were also damaged.
She said that three 33KV feeder lines, fifteen 11 KV feeder lines, and two 33/11 KV substations were damaged while two 11 KV electrical poles were uprooted the loss was estimated at Rs 13 lakh.(UNI)
