Telangana reports 165 fresh COVID-19 cases
Hyderabad, Feb 19: COVID-19 cases continue to accelerate in Telangana as the state recorded 165 fresh cases until 2000 hours on Thursday pushing the overall number of coronavirus cases to 2,.97,278 as on date.
The cumulative toll mounted to 1,623 so far after one patient died of COVID-19 in the state in the past 24 hours translating a case fatality rate of 0.54 per cent as against the countrywide mortality rate of 1.4 per cent,according to a state health department bulletin on Friday.
A total of 149 people have recovered from coronavirus statewide in the last 24 hours taking the total number of recoveries so far to 2,93,940 constituting a recovery rate of 98.87 percent while the national average was 97.3 per cent.
Currently,the number of active cases in the state stand at 1,715 including 681 individuals in home or institutional isolation,the bulletin said.
In a span of 24 hours, 23,761 samples have been tested in the state to detect the contagious virus out of which the results of 440 swab samples are pending.
Cumulatively,more than 84.09 lakhs COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the state so far since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation remained the top contributor of the infection by reporting a maximum of 35 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours followed by MedchalMalkajgiri (19),Rangareddy and Karimnagar 13 new cases each.
The day’s remaining coronavirus cases have been reported by other districts,the bulletin added. (UNI)
