Train accident: AP CM Jagan inquires about injured passengers at the government hospital in Vizianagaram

VIZIANAGARAM, OCT 30 : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday visited Vizianagaram government hospital to enquire about the health of passengers injured in train accident between Alamanda and Kantakapalli in the district on Sunday evening.

Visakhapatnam Rayagada and Palasa passenger trains were involved in an accident in which 14 persons lost their lives and 29 injured.

In an accident, the guard of a palasa passenger, a loco pilot and assistant loco pilot of Rayagada passenger were died on the spot.

From Visakhapatnam airport, Jagan reached vizianagaram in an helicopter and consoled the family members of the deceased.

Later, the CM visited the government hospital in vizianagaram and enquired about the health of the injured persons who were undergoing treatment.

However, Jagan did not visit the accident spot stating that rescue and relief operations will impact.According to Vizianagaram district Collector Nagalakshmi, 14 persons including two women were killed in the accident and two bodies are yet to be identified.Of the 14 died, seven from Vizianagaram district, 3 including two female from Srikakulam district, 2 from Visakhapatnam

Post-mortem is going on and will try to hand over the bodies to their relatives by evening, she added.(UNI)
