Former administrations lacked growth vision: Yogi

AMETHI (UP), OCT 30 :Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said that the previous governments, which indulged politics of dynasticism and casteism, had no vision for industrial development whereas the faith of the investors has increased in the state during the tenure of the double engine government of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of South West Asia’s largest beverage plant at Trisundi here in Amethi, the CM said that the previous governments did not have any vision for industrial policy. “It was entangled in casteism and nepotism. How can a person who spends much time thinking about casteism and nepotism think about investment? Unfortunately the power in UP was in the hands of these people.”

He said that back in 2018, when the state set a target of Rs 2 lakh crore for investments, it was met with laughter and scepticism. “Entrepreneurs from all corners of the nation hesitated to invest in UP. But today, investment proposals worth Rs 38 lakh crore have been received in UP”, he said.

Yogi said, “Entrepreneurs should solely focus on investing, as the government ensures their safety and capital security.”

Prior to this, he visited the facilities of SLMG Beverage Private Limited, where he explored the various workshops and gained insights into the intricacies of the bottling process.

The CM said, “This bottling plant is the outcome of the investment policy of the state government, which we have started under the leadership of the Prime Minister to provide investment, employment, and an excellent industrial environment in the state.”

He said, “With the advent of the double engine government, UP is rapidly gaining recognition as the premier investment destination in the nation.”

Asserting that a growing number of entrepreneurs from various regions of the country are expressing a keen interest in making investments within the state of UP, Yogi said, “Guarantee of investment and security has been ensured in UP.”

He said that in 2018 the state received investment proposals totalling Rs 5 lakh crore. “Five years later, during the Global Investors Summit held in February this year, investment proposals worth a staggering Rs 38 lakh crore have been secured.”

The CM said, “This remarkable achievement was made possible through a series of government-initiated reforms, including the implementation of sector-specific policies, the establishment of land banks, and the reinforcement of law and order. UP has witnessed rapid and extensive expansion of its infrastructure. It’s evident that improvements in law and order have a direct and visible impact on the state’s economy.”

He said that the setting up of this plant in Amethi signifies a significant investment milestone for the region. “An industrial area was marked here decades ago. However, previous governments lacked a development agenda. Instead, they fostered divisions through casteism and defamation, creating social discord.”

Yogi said, “However, the current double engine government is tirelessly engaged in comprehensive developmental efforts. This plant will become a source of investment and employment. Additionally, local ITI and Polytechnic students will benefit from this initiative. Very soon, another big investment of thousands of crores is going to come to Amethi.”

Addressing the event Union Minister and local MP Smriti Irani stated that if the intentions are clear and the leadership is visionary, then even the impossible can become possible on this planet. “Today’s plant, built due to the efforts of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is a great example of this,” she said.(UNI)
