Mumbai, July 19: On the background of heavy rains lashing Kokan areas, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar reviewed the flood situation after talking to District Collector Devender Singh of Ratnagiri over the phone on Wednesday morning.The water level of the Vashishthi river in Chiplun has increased tremendously, and the water level of the river has reached a dangerous level due to the increase in rainfall in Chiplun and surrounding areas of Konkan for the last two days.Resulting Water filling has started in the low-lying areas of Chiplun City.In this background, Pawar contacted Singh over the phone and reviewed the flood situation in the district including Chiplun.The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rainfall in many places in the state in the next four days.Pawar instructed the District Collectors to take precautionary measures immediately, deploy relief work and disaster management teams.MLA Shekhar Nikam was also present on this occasion.However, heavy rains have been warned for many parts of the state, including Konkan, in the next four days.Pawar gave instructions to the District Collectors to immediately relocate the citizens to the necessary places as a precautionary measure in such a situation.Also, instructions were given to the flood-affected citizens to supply essential items immediately and ensure that citizens are not inconvenienced under any circumstances, added Pawar.(UNI)
