25 ISIL prisoners break out of a Syrian prison under Turkish rule

Ten Iraqis, one Saudi, one Kuwaiti, and thirteen Syrians are among the fugitives, according to local sources in the Hasakah region in northeastern Syria who spoke to a correspondent for the Sputnik agency. They were detained in December and January of last year as a result of a security operation undertaken by the Turkmen factions. According to the sources, the location of their escape is yet unknown, but it is probably towards the Turkish territory bordering the city. Without knowing the exact day and hour of their breakout, the Sputnik agency today, Saturday, June 17, obtained the names and images of the inmates who fled from the aforementioned jail and were published by the “Military Police” troops of the Turkmen armed factions.A few hours prior to the prisoner breakout, some 40 ISIL families with Iraqi nationals—including women and children—left the Ras al-Ain neighbourhood in the suburbs of Hasakah and Tell Abyad and headed for Turkish territory via the Ras al-Ain border crossing. Local Al-Hasakah sources stated that these households were transferred from Turkish territory to the Iraqi authority.
