Dharamshala, May 24 : Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Wednesday sought the cooperation of the employees and the commonmen to speed up the development of the state.
Sukhu, who was on a nine-day tour to the politically vibrant and geographically largest district of Kangra in the state, discussed in detail about various developmental projects of the district in a meeting held with the officials in local mini secretariat.
He directed the officers to speed up the work on development projects.
He said by developing Kangra district as tourism capital, tourism activity will jack up here, which will increase the revenue of the state government and also generate self-employment opportunities.
He expressed confidence that all the efforts of the state government would yield results within the next three years.
During the meeting, Sukhu said the state government would ensure the solution of the problems of the employees and added that despite reduction in the loan limit of the State by Rs.5,500 crore by the Central Government, the State Government, in letter and spirit, has restored the old pension for the employees, fulfilling the pledge of the Congress Party.
He said the state government is committed to increasing its resources. Accordingly, it has been decided to levy water cess and 87 projects in the state have been registered under this act, he added.
He said as a result of the decision to auction liquor shops, the revenue has increased by 40 per cent.
Emphasising on the determination of the state government to take the state forward on the path of development, the Chief Minister appealed for cooperation from all sections of the society.
He also talked about the important reforms of the state government in the areas of green energy, tourism, education and health.
Administrative reforms are also being done so that the people of the state can take advantage of these schemes, he said and reiterated that his intention was not just to gain power, but to ensure systematic change.(UNI)
