CM Shinde and Nitin Gadkari discussed several road projects in Maharashtra.
Mumbai, May 9 : Union Minister for road and transport Nitin Gadkari and Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde held meeting and discussed with various road projects.
The projects of work should be completed in a timely manner by removing the bottlenecks in the work of national highways, flyovers, roads which are ongoing and approved in the state, directed Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to officials here on Tuesday. The CM drected to the forest department should take priority action for the repair work of the existing roads within the boundaries of the forests.
Review meeting regarding various road projects and new road projects in the state was held where Nitin Gadkari and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde were present.
The Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Public Works Minister Ravindra Chavan, Chief Secretary Manoj Saunik along with Additional Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary, Secretary of various departments were also present.
Shinde said the various projects of roads, highways and flyovers are going on through the National Highways Authority for increasing urbanization along with increasing infrastructure facilities. At the same time, some proposed projects are pending for land acquisition as well as forest department approval. These projects, which are necessary for the development of Maharashtra, need to be speeded up immediately, he added.
Where the projects are stalled due to lack of land acquisition, the concerned authorities should acquire the land within the time limit. As time goes on, the cost of the project increases, so the chief minister called for the completion of the project by acquiring the land as soon as possible.
Maharashtra should start scrapping unit in every district, said Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
The central government has announced a policy to scrap vehicles older than 15 years. Suggestion to start at least 150 to 200 units 4 in large and developed districts and 2 in small undeveloped districts, Gadkari said.
He also said that at least 10,000 to 15,000 people will get employment due to this. Gadkari said that while speeding up the work of Mumbai-Goa National Highway, the one-way road should be concreted before Ganapati festival.
435 km long projects of 9 projects of four, six and eight-lane roads are proposed in Mumbai division through the National Highways Authority. These 5 elevated corridor projects are proposed namely 621 km long new greenfield expressway, 178 km long Talegaon, Chakan, Shirur, Pune Shirur, Ravet Narhe, Hadapsar Ravet, Dwarka Circle to Nashik Road Station. Among the road safety works in Maharashtra, blackspot removal, flyovers, service roads, pedestrian bridges are proposed at 68 places, said Union Minister.
On the occasion, the development works of Kalamboli and six other junctions in the vicinity of Navi Mumbai International Airport were discussed. Along with this, there was also a discussion about the acquisition of seven km of land for the work of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi Marg.(UNI)
