PFI case: NIA raids six Tennessee addresses, detains two
Chennai, May 9 : As part of its ongoing probe into the unlawful
activities of the banned Popular Front of India (PFI), the National
Investigation Agency (NIA) today 9 conducted raids at six locations
in Tamil Nadu and detained two people.
Reports received here said the raids were being held at Chennai,
Madurai, Dindigul and Theni districts.
Those detained during the searches were Mohammad Qaiser, the
Madurai District Regional President of PFI and Socialist Democratic
Party of India (SDPI) Theni District Secretary Sadiq Ali.
Multiple teams of NIA were involved in the raids at the residential
and other premises of the suspects in the case in close coordination
with Tamil Nadu Police.
So far, ten people have been arrested in connection with the cas
registered by NIA after launching nation-wide crackdown against
PFI last year for indulging in conspiracy and unlawful activities, before
the outfit was banned by the Union Home Ministry.(UNI)
