The Simlipal Tiger Reserve was visited by President Droupadi Murmu.
Bhubaneswar, May 5 : On the second day of her stay in Odisha, President Droupadi Murmu on Friday visited Simlipal National Park and spent nearly two and half hours inside the Tiger Reserve.
Simlipal National Park is a place with rich biodiversity and wildlife. The tiger reserve is the only natural habitat in the world to protect the rare melanistic tiger popularly known as Black tigers.
The Simlipal National Park authorities had made elaborate arrangements for the visit of the President.
The President visited Chahal located in the core area of the Tiger reserve and Barehipani, known
for having the highest and most beautiful waterfall in the National park. She then had her lunch prepared by the local tribal community
Breaking her protocol, President Murmu stayed at her house in Rairangpur on Thursday night and had dinner with the family members.
On Friday morning before her visit to Simlipal National Park, the President went to Dandabosh village, the birthplace of Pandit Raghunath Murmu, the inventor of Ol Chiki language and paid
floral tributes on his birth anniversary, declared as a state holiday in Odisha.
The President is scheduled to address the convocation of Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University on Saturday before leaving for Delhi.(UNI)
