CHENNAI, DEC 9: The weakened Cyclonic storm ‘Mandous’ started crossing the coast at the tourist sport of Mamallapuram

between Puducherry and Sriharikota tonight.

The outer wing of the Cyclonec started entered the crossing phase at around 2130 hrs and it will take around 3-4 hrs to cross

the coast after which it is expected to further weaken as a deep depression, Met office sources said on Friday night.

As the storm started making landfall, heavy rains, accompanied by very strong winds, with speeds ranging from about 75 kmph,

lashed Chennai city, suburbs and neighbouring districts, which was accompanied by blustery winds.

The epicentre is around 100 km from Chennai and 65 km from the epicentre of Mamallapuram.(UNI)
