CM: Education budgeted at Rs. 55,000 crore
TIRUPATI, NOV 30 : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Wednesday said that his government had in the last three-and-a-half years spent Rs 55,000 crore in the education sector.
He was participating in the fourth phase of Jagannanna vidya Deevena at Madanapalle town.
The expenditure covered various schemes and school building modernisation.
At the function, the Chief Minister with the click of a button credited Rs 693,79,38,091 directly to 11,02,000 student bank accounts.
He said his government had reinstated the100 per cent fee reimbursements scheme launched by the Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy government.
Thousands of poor students can avail higher studies like engineering, medical etc and enhance lifestyles.
He said his government had sanctioned Rs 20,000 per annum under Vasati Divena scheme. The YSRCP government had cleared Rs 1,778 crore towards fee reimbursements.
He announced several programs for Annamaiah district including highways, Rs 5 crores grant for a Tipu Sultan temple, a medical college, three flyovers and a water grid.(UNI)
