In an effort to seize Pragathi Bhavan, the police detain the YSRTP leader.
HYDERABAD, NOV 29 : In retaliation for her detention in Warangal’s Chennaraopet village on Monday, the YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) President Y S Sharmila and several of her followers attempted to lay siege to Pragathi Bhavan, the Chief Minister residence-cum-camp office. They were detained by the city police on Tuesday.
After a confrontation between Sharmila’s followers and TRS activists during her Padayatra at Chennaraopet hamlet, Sharmila was taken into custody.
YSRTP and TRS activists began arguing as the suspect was being arrested. Later, allegedly by TRS activists, some automobiles, including Sharmila’s vehicle, were also destroyed.
Sharmila issued a plea to lay siege to Pragathi Bhavan in Hyderabad today in protest over her arrest, who was subsequently released by the police.
Sharmila, the sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, was travelling to Pragathi Bhavan in a car that had been involved in the incident on Monday when it was stopped by police near Somajiguda. Sharmila was accompanied by a sizable group of her fans.
Sharmila refused to get out of the car when the cops ordered her to.
Sharmila’s car was lifted into the police cruiser by a crane that had been brought in.
Sharmila was repeatedly urged to get out of the car by police as it was being towed through the city’s streets to the S R Nagar police station, but she refused.
After using duplicate keys to access the car’s doors, authorities later arrested her in accordance with pertinent laws.(PHN)
