Telangana to name Secretariat after Ambedkar

Hyderabad, Sep 15: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Thursday decided to name the new Telangana State Secretariat which is under construction after Dr. Bababsaheb Ambedkar.
KCR issued instructions to Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar in this regard.
In a release, the Chief Minister said: “It is a proud moment to all Telangana people that the state’s main administration headquarters Secretariat is named after India’s social philosopher and highly intellectual Dr. B R Ambedkar. This decision is exemplary for India.
“The Telangana government is moving forward by adhering to the philosophy of Ambedkar that all the people of India should get equal respect in all fields,” he said.
Ambedkar’s dream of India has a unique democratic character of diversity, he said.
The demand to name India’s new parliament building after Dr. Ambedkar’s is not a small issue, he said. A letter will also be written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the same.
The construction of the new secretariat complex started in November 2020 after the government cleared the legal hurdles. The iconic building, taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 616 crore, was designed with the lower ground, ground and 11 floors with a built-up area of 64,989 sq.m.(UNI)
