Waterbase upgrades shrimp processing facility at Nellore in AP

Chennai, Sep 2 : The Chennai-based Waterbase Limited, a pioneer in the aquaculture sector with a rich legacy of 28 years, has renovated and upgraded its shrimp processing factory at Nellore in Andhra Pradesh.


The plant wears a modern look with augmented capacities. The renovation and upgradation were necessitated to de-bottleneck operations, build efficiencies, strengthen quality control and achieve scale.


The facility now enjoys high quality process equipment and contemporary infrastructure and was equipped with the state- of-the-art Plate freezers and an IQF machine.


Grading machines, conveyors, condensers, and other processing equipment will ensure high quality standards and enable more efficient execution, a company release said today.


With the upgradation, the plant now has the capacity to process over 5000 MT of raw shrimp per annum.


The company can cater to a wide product range of processed shrimp from this facility including Head On, Headless, Easy peel, PD, PDTO, PUD, PUD Tail on in Block as well as in IQF forms.


The unit is designed to operate with strict adherence to EU, USFDA, HACCP, FSSAI and other global standards. All the products produced at Waterbase undergo strict quality checks right from farm-harvest to all stages of production and shipping.


The plant, which is USFDA approved, and EU listed has a well-equipped laboratory to test the products at various stages.


The products are also tested at external labs as per customer requirements.


Waterbase is targeting a diversified customer base and is well poised to serve demand across key markets including the US, UK, EU, Canada, Mexico, China and Middle East countries.


Kakani Govardhan Reddy, AP Minister for Agriculture, Cooperation, Marketing and Food Processing inaugurated the upgraded and renovated shrimp processing plant yesterday.(UNI)
