SpiceJet clears all pending dues with AAI
New Delhi, Aug 2 : SpiceJet on Tuesday said it has cleared all pending dues with the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
With this, the airline will revert to an advanced payment mechanism for daily flight operations, it added.
The AAI will release SpiceJet’s Rs 50 crore bank guarantee following the airline clearing all its principal dues. This will result in additional liquidity for the airline, a statement from the company said.
The airline recently came under scanner after a slew of incidents of technical snags raising safety concerns.
Aviation regulator the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on July 27 restricted SpiceJet flights to 50 per cent of the summer schedule for eight weeks.
In its order, the DGCA said SpiceJet has failed to establish a safe, efficient and reliable air transport service.(UNI)
