Bakrid festival celebrated peacefully in UP

Lucknow, July 10 : Eid-ul-Adha, a festival which gives the message of brotherhood and social harmony, was celebrated in a peaceful manner with traditional fervour in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday.

As per the information received from different parts of the state, in almost all districts of the state, members of Muslim community celebrated Bakrid by offering namaz in the local Mosques and extended warm greetings to each other.

According to the information received from Jaunpur, Bakrid was celebrated with full enthusiasm and brotherhood after a gap of two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. People offered prayers at Shahi Eidgah in Jaunpur, said the sources.

Maulana Faisal Qamar, son-in-law of Hazrat Maulana Zafar, led the namaz.

According to the report received from Mainpuri, namaz was offered at the Eidgah located in the city this morning. After this, local people celebrated the festival with gaiety.

Superintendent of Police (SP) of Mainpuri Kamlesh Dixit wished the people on the auspicious occasion and thanked them for celebrating this festival in a peaceful manner.

Dixit said the namaz was offered in about 26 Eidgahs and 88 Mosques at different places peacefully in the district.

According to information received from Gorakhpur, the constituency of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the festival of sacrifice, Eid-ul-Adha, was celebrated with reverence and enthusiasm in the entire division.

Thousands offered namaz at the historical Eidgah located in Normal, Gorakhpur, where Munshi Prem Chand wrote the popular Hindi story ‘Idgah’, and greeted each other.

According to police sources, namaz was offered in 28,260 mosques across the state amidst tight security arrangements.

They said, “Total 152 companies of PAC, along with 11 companies of central police forces, were deployed. Additional force was deployed at 2,167 places, which were identified as sensitive.”(UNI)
