Siddaramaiah demands ban on AIMIM

Hubballi, April 22 : In the wake of state police arresting AIMIM leaders in connection with Hubballi violence, former Karnataka Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Siddaramaiah on Friday demanded a ban on Asaduddin Owaisi’s party. Any other outfits including RSS and Bajrang Dal, who cause unrest in the society should also be banned, he said. “Why is the government hesitant to take action against AIMIM? Who is stopping them from banning the outfit? If you have guts go ahead and ban,” he told reporters here. “Ban those organisations that also create unrest in the society. Ban SDPI, AMIM, RSS and Bajrang Dal. We don’t have any issues with that,” the LoP said. The police have arrested two AIMIM leaders in the Hubballi violence case. Mohammed Arif was absconding after the violence. Earlier, Irfan Nalvatwad, AIMIM corporator Hussainbi Nalvatwad’s husband was apprehended by police. As many as four policemen were injured in the stone-pelting incidents which tool place after a Muslim mob demanded action against an objectionable WhatsApp status. A nearby Hanuman temple and hospital were attacked by the mob and section 144 was imposed in the city amid fear of violence and disharmony. The police lathicharged to disperse the mob, but the mob went out of control, forcing officials to deploy tear gas shells.(UNI)
