Civilian killed in south Kashmir attack
Srinagar, April 13 : A civilian was killed in a terrorist attack in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Wednesday, police said. The killing of the civilian took place two days after a top Pakistani Jaish-e-Mohammad(JeM) terrorist was killed along with a hybrid militant in a gun battle in the district. A civilian, identified as Satish Kumar Singh was critically wounded in a militant attack in the Pombay village of Kulgam this evening. “The injured Singh, a local and a driver by profession, was shifted to hospital in a critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries,” a security official said. Police said the area has been cordoned to trace the attackers and those involved in the killing would be neutralised soon. “..#Terrorists involved in this #gruesome terror crime will be neutralised soon. Search to track the involved #terrorists in progress,” the Kashmir Zone Police tweeted. Over the past weeks, there have been a series of targeted attacks on non-local labourers and a Kashmiri Hindu in south Kashmir districts. Meanwhile, political parties have condemned the attack. “..There can never be a justification for attacks like these. May his soul rest in peace & may his family find strength during this difficult time,” former chief minister and National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah said. The BJP has urged police to nab and punish the attackers. “Strongly condemn yet another barbaric and cowardice act of terrorists….. Urge police nab and punish the attackers,” BJP JK spokesman Altaf Thakur said in a statement.(UNI)
