In this age of social media, great content can’t be hidden anymore: Neha Dhupia
Kolkata, Feb 19 : In this age of social media, great content can’t be hidden anymore, opines Neha Dhupia, who is playing an important role in ‘A Thursday’, a Behzad Khambata directorial. Just after the streaming started, Neha in an interaction with UNI, recognized the power of social media considering the promotion of any content. At the same time, she banged the culture of trolls, memes and negative comments. She said, “as far as trolls are concerned they are best to be ignored.” Being one of the strong actors of Bollywood, while asked whether she has any tension about the film, Neha denied it. “I don’t believe there is any tension at all while you make a good product”, she said confidently. The actor, who has been seen as a police officer in her previous film ‘Sanak’, this time also is portraying a cop. Citing this as a mere coincidence and a close call, she conveys her enthusiasm about enjoying her roles in both films. Interestingly, Neha shoots for ‘A Thursday’ with her pregnancy and the role is also of a pregnant cop. Hailing director Behzad Khambata, she said, “I think more important thing is that I had the opportunity to play the part while I am 8 months pregnant. There are very few directors who are brave enough to cast somebody in that phase of life, Behzad is one of them.” She even thinks that, in this changing world, where cinema is the portrayal of society, actors are not in a situation of shying away. When asked if being a cop on the screen looks smart but if it comes with an extra burden while preparing for the character, the actor resists it. She thinks it is like every other role but some technicalities like holding and properly using the gun are things to be learnt. Neha, who has been seen in some sleazy roles at the beginning of her career had a metamorphosis and started getting content-driven films and strong characters. Responding whether she changes her approach with the time, mentioning herself lucky, the ‘Julie’ actor says, “I wanted to do good work with good people. And that’s being my constant approach. My approach to anything and everything that I have done over the past 18 years of being in the business as an actor is, to be honest, and sincere”. The actor, who have done critically acclaimed films like ‘Moh Maya Money’, ‘Mithya’ also said after some of her good films got rejected by the mass, she is still working with the same people. Expressing her take on why she thinks the films not worked, the actor said, “I feel that, films like ‘Mithya’, ‘Moh Maya Money’, ‘Ek Chalis Ki Last Local’ or ‘Phas Gaye Re Obama’; that whole set of a film I have done in the past if it had come now then the things would have been different. I feel that these films are OTT ready”. The actor, who pioneered the concept of podcasts a long 6 years back still rejoice in that great excitement of being a changemaker. “I’m hoping to bring back my podcast #NoFilterNeha, but right now I’ve been quite caught up between works and my endorsements, films that I’m starting and motherhood,” concluded Neha.
