Kolkata, Feb 1 :West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar Today greeted the Indian Coast Guard personnel and their family members on ICG’s Raising Day. The Governor who is expected to attend the ICG’s foundation day celebration here this evening, also appreciated the coast guard personnel. “Greatly appreciate its exemplary steadfast efforts in securing our coasts and also being at the forefront of humanitarian efforts,” Dhankar said on his twitter account. The Indian Coast Guard is a maritime law enforcement and search and rescue agency of India with jurisdiction over its territorial waters including its contiguous zone and exclusive economic zone. The Indian Coast Guard was formally established on February 1, 1977 by the Coast Guard Act, 1978 of the Parliament of India. (UNI)
