JK LG hoists Tricolour at Jammu
Jammu, Jan 26 : Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Today hoisted the National Flag on the occasion of Republic Day function held at Maulana Azad Stadium in Jammu. LG Sinha saluted the contingents participated in the parade. Addressing the gathering, Sinha said, “we are fast moving towards becoming a powerful and self-reliant Union Territory by improving the standard of living of farmers, youth, women, laborers and every citizen of Jammu and Kashmir.” “I urge youth to be a part of this great journey of development of J&K, the beautiful land of peaceful coexistence, enlightenment, salvation and make invaluable contribution in enormous intellectual capital of the Union Territory,” the LG further said. “We cannot successfully meet the external challenge until every village on the border is prosperous,”he stated adding, “considering this work as paramount, we have taken steps in the direction of fulfilling the aspirations of these areas which were ignored for decades.” The contingents of Army, CRPF, JKP, NCC cadets and other departments besides various schools presented an impressive March past while school children and artists of J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages presented colorful cultural programmes featuring theme based presentations. Performance by the Dare Devils of Jammu and Kashmir Police also mesmerised the audience by their spectacular stunts. Stunning Gymnastic performances, shows were also presented by sportspersons of J&K Sport Council. The cultural items depicted communal harmony and composite culture of Jammu Kashmir UT, besides featured patriotic based presentations, folk music and dance. Meanwhile, tight security arrangements were made in and around the venue for smooth and peaceful celebrations of the national event.
