State Women Commission needs to work effectively: Telangana Min

Hyderabad, Jan 19 : Telangana Tribal, Women and Child Welfare Minister Satyavathi Rathod Today said the State Women’s Commission needed to work effectively, as per the vision of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, and get name and fame to the state.

Speaking during a programme held at Buddha Bhavan here, organised on the occasion of the first anniversary of State Women’s Commission, Rathod said the SWC was at the forefront in the country in resolving the problems of women.

Congratulating SWC Chairperson Sunitha Lakshmareddy and Members of the Commission on the occasion, the Minister said that Lakshmareddy was a senior and experienced politician.

Her expertise would prove very useful to the Commission. A member with such varied experience, would be able to resolve the problems of women, she added.

Keeping in view the safety of women, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has established SHE teams and Bharosa Centres in the state, Rathod said, adding that no state has implemented such programmes.

Stating that the Chief Minister was working towards developing women on par with men, the Minister thanked the Chief Minister for agreeing to establish a Women University in the state.

Rathod also released the Annual Report of the Women’s Commission and songs on women CDs on the occasion.

SWC Chairperson Sunitha Lakshmareddy, Commission Members, officials and representatives of NGOs, among others, participated on the occasion.(UNI)
