Grammy Awards rescheduled for April
Los Angeles, Jan 19 : The US music industry’s biggest event, 64th Grammy Awards will be held for the first time in April in Las Vegas after being postponed due to growing risk of Omicron variant, said organisers.
The Recording Academy, the organisation behind the awards, said that the music event will now be broadcast live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, April 3 on the CBS Television Network.
According to USA Today, the heralded music awards show will be held in Las Vegas for the first time. Besides, it is the first time in decades the awards will take place in the late spring.
On Tuesday, Recording Academy tweeted, “The 64th GRAMMYs have been rescheduled and will now be broadcast live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, April 3 on CBS” along with sparkles and musical notes emojis.
“We are excited to take the Grammys to Las Vegas for the very first time, and to put on a world-class show,” Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy, said in the statement.
The Grammy Awards was originally slated to be held in Los Angeles on January 31.(UNI)
