Stalin announces Rs 4,600 Cr second Hogenekkal water project

Chennai, Jan 20 : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin Today  said the second phase of Hogenakkal Combined Drinking Water Scheme will be implemented at a cost of Rs 4,600 crores.

Inaugurating a slew of projects in Dharmapuri district from the State secretariat via video conferencing, he said Dharmapuri district has a special place for him as it was where the first Women Self Group was launched by erstwhile DMK government headed by late Mr.M.Karunanidhi.

It was in the same district, the first Hogenekkal drinking water project was launched by the DMK government and said he was personally involved in the project when it was launched to meet the drinking water needs of Dharmapuri and other districts.

He said the second phase of the Hogenekkal combined drinking water scheme will be launched at a cost of 4600 crore and the project report was being readied.

A new road at a cost of Rs 250 crore will be laid to link Salem and Dharmapuri districts and a milk processing facility will be set up in Dharmapuri, besides a SIPCOT industrial project will be implemented, he added.(UNI)
