Los Angeles, Jan 20 : Actor Glen Powell of “Scream Queens” fame has teamed up with Fast & Furious writer-producer Chris Morgan for “Deputy X”, a sci-fi action-thriller set up at Universal Pictures.

Powell both came up with the idea and concept for the project and will star in what is intended to be a high-concept franchise starter for the actor, said Hollywood Reporter.

Morgan, who has a long-standing relationship with the studio thanks to his work as writer and producer on the Fast franchise, shall work on the production along with Ainsley Davies, the head of development at his Chris Morgan Productions.

Jack Paglen, whose previous credits include “Transcendence” starring Johnny Depp and “Alien: Covenant”, will write the script.

Details for “Deputy X” are being kept secret, though it has been said to be totally in the category of films as Arnold Schwarzenegger’s “The Running Man” and 1970s cult classic “Logan’s Run”.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Powell and Paglen will also jointly produce the feature project. Universal’s senior VP of production development, Jay Polidoro, and director of development, Tony Ducret, are overseeing the project for the studio.(UNI)
