‘Tanahji’ completes two years, ‘Amazing memories’ says director Om Raut

Mumbai, Jan 11 : With two years having passed since the release of “Tanahji: The Unsung Warrior”, director Om Raut took to Twitter to express his delight for having had the chance to put forth on screen the life of the great Marathi warrior Tanahjirao Malusare. He thanked all the actors for participating in his project and helping him fulfil his ambition.

Om Raut tweeted:

“I consider myself extremely lucky to have had a chance to showcase the life of this great Mawala of Chhatrapati Shivaji Raje, Subedar Tanhajirao Malusare on the silver screen. Can’t believe it’s 2 years already!!! Thank you Ajay sir, for making my dream come to reality.”

“Much love, respect, and gratitude. @ajaydevgn sir, @itsKajolD ma’am, #SaifAliKhan sir, #BhushanKumar Ji and #TeamTanhaji.

“Taking away lots of amazing memories for a lifetime. #2YearsOfTanhaji

Har Har Mahadev”.

“Tanhaji” was one of the highest grossers of last year, earning a total Rs 368 crores against Rs 125 crores.

While the movie had a polarizing reception, as some linked it to the saffronization of Indian cinema and the Hindu Muslim binary, it garnered a lot of positive reviews on the whole, with a total score of 7.6 on IMDB.

As the title suggests, the movie is a cinematic retelling of the life of subedar Tanhaji Malusare, one of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s finest warriors and his assault on the Mughals when he fought Udaybhan Rathore, a commander in Aurangzeb’s army and wrested Fort Kondhana from him, in a struggle which took his life but immortalized him in Maratha folklore and Indian history.

Director Om Raut is currently working on his new project “Adipurush”, a Hindu mythological film based on the Ramayana.

Produced by T-Series, the film is shot in both Hindi and Telugu simultaneously, and will star Prabhas as Adipurush, Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh and Kirti Sanon as Sita. With a budget of Rs 500 crore/ $66 million, “Adipurush” will be one of the most expensive Indian films ever made. It is slated for an August 2022 release.(UNI)
