BJP calls a meeting for selection of candidates

Lucknow, Jan 9 : Following announcement of the schedule for Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party has called an important meeting regarding screening of its candidates Today.

Sources said that during the meeting, besides final round discussions on the names of probable candidates for the seats falling in the first phase, other issues related to the elections will also be discussed.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy CMs- Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma, state president Swatantra Dev Singh, UP in-charge Radha Mohan Singh, election in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan, deputy in-charge Anurag Thakur and other senior leaders are likely to participate in the meeting.

Names of the probable candidates finalised in the meeting will be sent to the central unit of BJP for approval. Polling for 58 seats in 11 districts will be held on February 10 in the first phase of the polls.(UNI)
