Establishment of Textile park to generate employment: EG Collector

Kakinada, Jan 9: East Godavari Collector Chevuri Harikiran has said that establishment of textile parks would pave the way for creation of large scale employment as such efforts are being made to attract investors to set up a textile park in the district.

He told media persons after holding discussions with Ravichandran Director and Subramanian CEO of the Nethaji apparel park of Thirupur, Tamil Nadu, at the camp office here on Saturday that the proposal put forth by them for developing a textile park in the district would be placed before the state government for clearance.

He said the district was developing fast in oil and gas field besides Agriculture and allied fields and the atmosphere here was very much congenial for accelerated industrial development.

With the establishment of textile park, he said, several units of spinning and processing would come up generating lot of employment, especially to womenfolk. The Collector further said that all aspects relating to land suitable for setting up of textile park, infrastructure facilities, setting up of individual micro units and clusters would be discussed in detail.

During the discussions, the Nethaji textile park representatives informed the collector that there was lot of scope for getting sanctioned Rs.500 crore textile project under the Mega textile scheme announced by the central government with a view to attract local investments and foreign direct investments (FDI) and generating large scale employment to locals.

Vikasa project director Latcharao, APIIC zonal manager Sudhakar, district industries center GM Srinivasarao and Vedantha Limited representative Satish were among those that took part in the deliberations.(UNI)
