Aurangabad, Jan 8:The Marathwada region of Maharashtra recorded 493 fresh Covid-19 cases and a death in Beed, as per health authorities Today.

Reports collected by UNI from the all district headquarters showed, of the eight districts in the region,

Beed recorded 16 cases and single death followed by Aurangabad (183 cases), Osmanabad (80), Latur (77), Nanded (74), Parbhani (29), Jalna (23) and Hingoli (11).

Maharashtra recorded 40,925 fresh cases of Covid-19 in the same time, taking its tally to 68,34,222 so far.

The state also registered 20 more deaths, taking the toll to 1,41,164.

Authorities said 14,256 patients recovered in the state in one day, pushing the total number of recoveries to 65,47, 410.

The recovery rate currently stands at 95.80 per cent while the fatality rate is 2.09 per cent.

At present, there are 1,41,492 active cases across Maharashtra undergoing treatment at different Covid 19 centres and hospitals, the health department data showed.

No fresh cases of Omicron was spotted in the state and the tally of the new variant remained 876. So far 435 Omicron patients have recovered.(UNI)
