Cervical cancer can be reduced by regular vaccine, says Dr Agarwal

Mumbai, Jan 7 : Regular vaccination after the age of 40 years can reduce the risk of Cervical cancer in women, says Dr Sheetal Agarwal, gynaecologist attached to Apollo Spectra Hospital, Delhi.

It is a general vaccine, woman can take it after 40 years of age, Dr Agarwal said.
On the occasion of Cervical health awareness month, January, which is celebrated worldwide, Dr Agarwal said cervical cancer cases are increasing at an alarming rate in the country as this type of Cancer is commonly seen in women.
She further said there is a vaccine to lower the risk of cervical cancer, which woman can take after the age of 40 years and the infection of this disease can be reduced.
Secondly by regular screening test can also help to prevent cervical cancer.

Elaborating about symptoms of the disease, Dr Sheetal Agarwal said if a woman has pelvis after intercourse or there is any abnormal virginal discharges at this juncture, woman should be alert, she further said.
The Cervical cancer starts from the cervix of woman (uterus).(UNI)
