Kerala reports 49 new Omicron cases, tally rises to 230
Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 5 : Kerala recorded 49 more cases of Omicron variant of Covid-19 Today,taking the total number of such cases to 230 in the state, state Health Minister Veena George said.
The Minister, in a press release, here said highest 10 cases were recorded in Thrissur, followed by 8 in Kollam, 7 in Ernakulam, 6 in Malappuram, 3 each in Alappuzha and Palakkad, 2 each in Kozhikode and Kasaragod, 1 each in Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Kannur, Wayanad.
In addition, 2 people came from Tamil Nadu also tested positive for the Omicron, she added.
In view of Omicron cases rising rapidly in Kerala, the Minister urged people to take utmost care and follow COVID protocol strictly to stop further spread of the pandemic.
Kerala also recorded 4,801 fresh Covid-19 cases and 29 fatalities Today.(UNI)
