Hyderabad, Jan 3 : The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, RK Mathur said Today  that the UT Administration is striving to make the Gram Panchayats deliver as per the responsibility assigned to them through training and exposure visits.

Inaugurating the training organised by the National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (NIRDPR) for Village Level workers (VLWs) and Multi Purpose Workers (MPWs) virtually from Ladakh the Lieutenant Governor shared that there could not be a better place for the participants from Ladakh to get training at such a premier institute.

He added that the elected representatives who had earlier undergone training at the institute were satisfied with the inputs provided by NIRDPR.

Stating that the employees of the Rural Department did not get proper training in the past before the Gram Panchayat elections that were held in Ladakh for the first time, the Lieutenant Governor said that the UT Administration is striving to make the Gram Panchayats deliver as per the responsibility assigned to them through trainings and exposure visits.

He said that the UT Administration has transferred works of over 20 departments to the Gram Panchayats and allocated Rs 1 crore each as block development fund to all the 31 blocks to make the Gram Panchayats active and efficient so that they deliver the benefits as per the needs of the people.

The Lieutenant Governor expressed hope that these exposure training would help the employees of the Rural Department work more efficiently with productive outputs.

Requesting NIRDPR Hyderabad to train 193 VLWs in separate batches, the Lieutenant Governor shared that the UT Administration would provide trainings to all the 1,700 elected representatives and government employees in the future to overcome the backlog of development and catch up with the rest of the country as envisioned by the Prime Minister.(UNI)
