B’Desh PM Sheikh Hasina inaugurates the Dhaka International Trade Fair
Dhaka, Jan 1 (UNI) Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh inaugurated the 26th annual Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) on Saturday. She declared the ICT products and services as the ‘product of the year 2022’.
Inaugurating the month-long trade fair virtually from her official residence, Prime Minister Hasina urged the business community to explore new markets and diversify the product basket. She emphasised the need to improve the quality and standard of the existing export items.
Prime Minister Hasina highlighted the importance of agricultural products, food processing, leather products and jute products among important items of trade. Pointing to the continued growth in exports, Prime Minister Hasina said that export has gone up from USD 15.66 billion in 2009 to over USD 45 billion in 2021.
The largest trade fair of Bangladesh is being organised by the Ministry of Commerce and the Export Promotion Bureau with the help of other agencies to promote export and product diversification. It could not be organised last year due to the COVID 19 pandemic.
The DITF has 227 stalls including 23 pavilions where traders from 11 countries are taking part in the fair.(UNI)
