Panel probing tragic loss of CDS to submit report soon
New Delhi, Dec 30 : The tri service Court of Inquiry probing the December 8 tragic chopper crash near Coonoor involving CDS Gen Bipin Rawat and 13 others is in final stages of its completion and likely to submit the report to the government in a day or two, sources said.
The panel constituted to investigate the tragic chopper crash is headed by Air Marshal Manvendra Singh with officers of the Indian Army and Indian Navy in the team.
The Court of Inquiry has collected evidence, examined the black box, looked into various aspects of aviation and their task is to find out what actually happened on December 8 which led to the death of India’s senior most serving General.
The panel will submit its findings and also suggest steps to stop repeat of such accidents.
The IAF, however, has not commented on the status of the report.
“The court of inquiry is in progress, it will look into all aspects of the accident, however we cannot set a time frame as to when it will be submitted,” says IAF spokesperson Wg Cdr Ashish Moghe.
Gen Bipin Rawat, held as the country’s most celebrated Army officer, died near Coonoor on Dec 8 afternoon, together with his wife Madhulika Rawat, his senior most staff officer Brig LS Lidder and Lt Col Harjinder Singh, Naik Gursewak Singh, Naik Jitender Kumar, Naik Vivek Kumar, Naik B. Sai Teja, Havaldar Satpal and pilots flying the aircraft.
In the post crash analysis, most experts believed that a major technical snag or bad weather could be the reason leading to the crash.
The chopper had taken off from the Sulur IAF station and it was flying to Wellington when it crashed.(UNI)
