Hyderabad, Dec 24 : Three girls aged between 7 and 12 were drowned in a pit dug for cellar purpose in the fourth phase of KPHB Colony in the city Today  afternoon.

Police said, five girls went to play nearby the pit. One of the girls slipped and fell down in the pit and drowned. In the process of saving her, two other girls also drowned.

The bodies of the girls were fished out from the pit by the police.

The deceased were identified as Sangeetha,12, Safiya (10) and Ramya (7).

A case has been registered and an investigation is underway, police added.(UNI)
