BADSHAHI ASHURKHANA

BADSHAHI ASHURKHANA

Following Shia tradition, the Qutb Shahis built Ashurkhanas (mourning halls) for the annual Muharram celebrations. Muhammad Quli Qutb
built this house of mourning in 1594.

Barely 100 meters away from the Naya Pul bridge, opposite the Madina Building, the Badshahi Ashur Khana bears the name of its builder in the
central niche .

The Qutb Shahis were not known for enamel decoration, but nearly 400 years later, the enamel tiles continue to keep their luster.
