Swedish Ambassador to India to lead official delegation to Pune on Nov 23-24
Pune, Nov 20 :Ambassador of Sweden to India, Klas Molin, will be on a two-day visit to Pune with Team Sweden from November 23.
Consul General of Sweden in Mumbai, Anna Lekvall, who is responsible for West India, and her team will receive the delegation for meetings and visits to key Swedish companies in Pune, Bharat Forge and the Serum Institute of India, said a release here Today.
Team Sweden delegation will comprise of Trade Commissioner Cecilia Oskarsson, General Manager of Swedish Chamber of Commerce India Sara Larsson, Counsellors for Science & Innovation Dr Per-Arne Wikström & Markus Lundberg, Head of Visa & Migration Ljiljana Cvitanovic Juric and a few others.
Sustainability and innovation are high on agenda for the Team Sweden’s visit to Pune, which is known as the Swedish hub of India.
Being an extremely important city for Sweden, Pune has the third-largest cluster of Swedish companies in India, established in the 1960s, when major manufacturing corporations like Sandvik, SKF, Alfa-Laval, Atlas Copco and Tetra Pak, to name just a few, set up base here.
Erstwhile Prime Minister late Jawaharlal Nehru had granted all these companies land which was called ‘Sveanagar’ (Dehu Road).
The delegation will have discussions around the findings of the Environmental Sustainability Mapping Study for Swedish companies in Maharashtra and Gujarat – besides sharing best practices, identifying challenges, providing solutions and further strengthening collaborations over sustainability benefitting from Sweden and India’s longstanding bilateral ties.
Today in Maharashtra alone, there are 108 Swedish companies, 65 headquarters, 27 production plants and 34,000 direct employees, the release added.(UNI)
