Gurupurab celebrated at Nanakshahi Gurudwara in Dhaka

Dhaka, Nov 19 :The 552nd birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev was observed at the historic Nanakshahi gurudwara in Dhaka here Today.
People from various walks of life offered obeisance at the gurdwara on the occasion of the Gurupurab. A programme of community feast or Langar was organised for the people and special prayers from Gurubani were recited.
High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Vikram Doraiswami paid his respects at the gurdwara during the day. He also performed Sewa on this occasion.
The number of people coming from India to the Nanakshahi gurdwara on this occasion was limited because of the COVID-19 pandemic but local people took part in the celebrations.
Gurudwara Nanakshahi is a historic gurdwara in Dhaka. Guru Nanak Dev visited Dhaka in the year 1506-07. The gurdwara was built in 1830 to commemorate the visit of Guru Nanak. Guru Tegh Bahadur also stayed in Dhaka for over two years. The Nanakshahi gurudwara at Dhaka houses two important relics including the wooden sandal of Guru Tegh Bahadur and two handwritten copies of Guru Granth Sahib.(UNI)
