VP, PM, Sonia pay tribute to Indira Gandhi on 104th birth anniversary

New Delhi, Nov 19 : Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi on Friday paid tributes to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her 104th birth anniversary.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, the VP posted, “My tributes to former Prime Minister, Smt. Indira Gandhi Ji on her birth anniversary today. She will be remembered for her contribution to nation-building.”

The PM tweeted, “I pay my tributes to former Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi Ji on her birth anniversary.”

The Congress president paid floral tributes to the former PM at ‘Shakti Sthal’ here.

Remembering the former PM and his grandmother, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi in a social media post wrote that her courage always inspired him.

The Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC), under the leadership of its chief Anil Kumar Chaudhary, paid rich tributes to the first woman PM of the country.

Speaking at a seminar organised on the occasion here, the DPCC chief said it was Indira Ji’s determined and courageous leadership that propelled India on the path of development and prosperity, and her 20-point programme to empower the poor helped the downtrodden carve out a niche for themselves, while contributing to the progress of the country.
