Puducherry, Nov 16 : As many as 33 more persons were tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours taking the tally of infection to 1,28,495 in the Union Territory.

No deaths were reported during the period and the death toll remained 1,866.

According to the official statement, of the 2,364 swab tests taken yesterday, 33 tested positive for the virus. As many as 16 new cases were reported in Puducherry region, 5 in Karaikal, 8 in Yanam and 4 in Mahe regions. 18 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours, 5 each in Puducherry and Karaikal regions and 5 each in Yanam and Mahe regions.

Presenty, 56 persons are being treated in Puducherry region, 15 in Karaikal and ten each in Yanam and Mahe regions. Another 229 positive cases are under home isolation in all the four regions of the UT.

So far, 1,28,495 persons are infected by the virus of which 126309 were treated and discharged and 1,866 died leaving 320 active cases here.

The test positivity rate in the UT is 1.40 percent,case fatality rate 1.45 percent and recovery rate 98.30 percent.

As many as 11,60,364 doses of Covid vaccine were administered to the health care workers, frontline workers and general public in the union territory so far.(UNI)
