Post Diwali, Kolhapur MSRTC employees go on strike again

Kolhapur, Nov 8 : After a brief respite owing to the Diwali festival, a total of 4,800 MSRTC employees resumed their indefinite strike, bringing the fleet of ST buses to a complete standstill here Today.
The agitators had paused their strike considering the rush of extra passengers amid Diwali.

However, the Kolhapur depot employees on Sunday sent a written communication to the Divisional Controller and informed about their decision to rejoin the statewide strike which started from October 27.
As a result, ST buses remained off the roads here this morning, causing huge inconvenience to the commuters who planned return journeys post Diwali.
The impact of the agitation was felt outside Kolhapur too as ST buses made 2,500 daily trips, transporting passengers in and around the district.
Talking to media persons on the pertinent issue, Minister of State for Transport Satej Patil appealed to the agitators to call off the strike and invited them for a discussion with the state government.
Meanwhile, the opposition BJP has lent full support to the agitation and even staged a sit-in with the strikers at the Central Bus Stand.(UNI)
