Sameer Wankhede at NCB’s Delhi HQ
New Delhi, Oct 26 :Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Mumbai zonal director Sameer Wankhede, who has been leading the probe into the cruise drugs case in which actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan has been arrested, on Tuesday reached the NCB headquarters in Delhi to attend the Vigilance Awareness Week here.
He reached NCB headquarters around 12 noon and was seen outside the Bikaji Cama Place office at 3 pm after meeting senior officers.
He reached Delhi late Monday amid several allegation raised against him and probe initiated by the NCB.
On his arrival in Delhi, he told the media he was summoned, but was here “for some work”.
Wankhede is facing allegations of bribery against him. He has said “All allegations are baseless”, and has offered to cooperate in any probe initiated against him.
Earlier on Monday though he wrote to Maharashtra DGP Sanjay Pandey to not take any legal action against him.
Later, Prabhakar Sail, a witness in the cruise drugs bust case, approached Mumbai Police, alongwith his advocate, demanding police protection, as his and his family’s life is in danger. He submitted all evidences against Wankhede to the Sahar Police station, sources said.
Sail was given protection as he has revealed that his employer, KP Gosavi, had demanded Rs 25 crore from the Shah Rukh for the release of Aryan. Finally, deal was finalised at Rs 18 crore, out of that Rs 8 crore were for Wankhede while the remaining amount was distributed by other people among themselves.
Appearing before Special Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) court Judge VV Patil on Monday, Wankhede said he was being targeted and is ready for any investigation.
In this regard two affidavits were also filed one by the NCB and another by Wankhede. “Charges levelled against Sameer Wankhede are being investigated,” NCB Deputy Director General Gyaneshwar Singh said.(UNI)
