Covid : 43 new cases in UT
Puducherry, Oct 21:As many as 43 fresh Coronavirus cases have been reported in the Union Territory since the last 24 hours, ending at 10 AM Today, taking the infection tally to 1,27,564 in the Union Territory.
No deaths were reported during the period and the death toll remained at 1,852.
According to Covid-19 status released by the health department here, of the 2,953 swab sample tests conducted yesterday, 43 persons tested positive for the virus.
About 25 new cases were reported in Puducherry region, 11 in Karaikal region, and seven in Mahe region.
No cases were reported in Yanam region of UT for the fourth day today.
In the last 24 hours, 50 persons were discharged and 30 of them were from Puducherry region, eight from Karaikal region, and 12 from Mahe region.
Presently, 75 patients were being treated at hospitals in Puducherry region, nine in Karaikal region, six in Yanam region and ten in Mahe region.
Another, 354 persons are undergoing treatment in home isolation in all the four regions of the Union Territory after they had tested positive for Covid.
So far, 1,27,564 persons are infected by Coronavirus and of which 1,25,258 patients were treated and discharged, 1,852 people died and presently there are 454 active cases.
The test positivity rate in the UT is 1.46 per cent, case fatality rate is 1.45 per cent and the recovery rate is 98.19 per cent.
As many as 10,89,046 doses of Covid vaccine were administered to healthcare workers, frontline workers and the general public in the UT so far.(UNI)
