AP: Anesthesiologists take out rally to mark World Anesthesia Day
Kakinada, Oct 16: The Kakinada society of anesthesiologists took out a big rally in the main streets of the city today as part of the World anesthesia Day celebrations.
Dr SSC Chakrarao, retired DMHO and a leading anesthesiologist, Dr Lakshminarayana, Dr Phani Nadella and Dr Anilkumar led the rally .
Later addressing a meeting at the Ramcosa hall, Dr Chakrarao said that the surgeries which were performed through crude methods in ancient days, were made easy and sophisticated due to the anesthesia experiment with Ether made by Dr WTG Mortan on a patient Gilbert Abbot on October 16, 1846 when the surgeon Dr Hedri Beglow had removed the tumor from the patient’s neck without causing any pain to the patient.
This brought about the revolution and beginning of painless surgeries thus increasing the role of anesthesiologists in surgeries. Now all critical surgeries including on limbs and organs implanting surgeries were being done successfully providing maximum comfort and safety to the patients. In a nutshell, the anesthesiologist role is pivotal while the patient is on the operation table and also during post operative care, he added.(UNI)
